Introduction » Steel ropes

Steel wire ropes

LANA VAMBERK s.r.o. manufactures and supplies steel ropes that find their firm place in many industrial branches.

Production range of the company comprises mainly the steel ropes designed:

STANDARD SEAL FILLER WARRINGTON
HERKULES STABIL JEDNOPRAMENNÁ LANA

in conformity with the European standard EN ČSN 12385.  If requested so by the customer, we can also manufacture the rope not described in the said standard, but thanks to our production experience it will conform to the corporate standard PN 95-02.

The lubricated ropes are manufactured, if dry rope is requested, this fact has to be specified in the order.
The wire of the strength 1770 MPa is used as a standard, if a special requirement for strength is raised, it has to be specified in the order.

Be so kind and show in the order:

designation of the rope, see the example
The example: lano ∅ 8,0 ČSN EN 12385-4 6x19M-IWRC 1770 B sZ
requested term of delivery

WHERE :

∅ 8,0 rope average
ČSN EN 12385 – 4 designation of the standard - steel rope for general lifting applications (table No.1)
6x19M rope design - cross section six-strand wire rope (table No.2)
IWRC core design – wire core (table No.3)
1770 class of rope strength –1770 Mpa
B wire surface - galvanized, (table No.4)
sZ type and direction of rope lay – regular lay, right-hand lay (table No. 5)
unkilled method of elimination of the internal stress (see chap.5.2 PN 01-03)
on drums method of packing
dry method of lubrication (see chap.5.3 PN 01-03)

Table No.1 - Designation of the standard

Designation
Determination of the standard
ČSN EN 12385 – 4 Multi-strand ropes for general lifting purposes
ČSN EN 12385 – 5 Multi-strand ropes for the lifts
ČSN EN 12385 – 8 Multi-strand haul and load-supporting ropes for installation of cableways intended for transportation of persons

Table No. 2 – rope construction

Symbol   Type of design
(without any symbol) Single-layer lay
S Regular lay SEAL
W   Warrington
F   Filler
M Cross lay
N Mixed lay

Table No. 3 – core construction

Designation Core construction
FC Core of fibres
IWRC Core of wires
WSC Core of wire strand
WC Core of steel

Table No. 4 – Wire surface finish

Designation  Finish
U No surface finish (bare)
A Galvanized heavily
B Galvanized

Table No. 5 – type and direction of lay

Designation Method of lay* Direction of lay
sZ cross lay right-hand
zS cross lay left-hand
zZ regular right-hand
sS regular left-hand
aZ alternate right-hand
aS alternate left-hand

* the first letter of the regular lay and the Lang lay designates direction of wires in the strand and the second letter designates direction of the strand in the rope. The second letter in case of alternate types designates direction of strands in the rope.

If the rope is ordered in accordance with the cancelled standard, the sales department staff will convert it according to the criteria shown above.

The ropes are manufactured in tolerances:

∅ rope   + 5 %
rope weight   + 5 %
rope length up to 400 m inclusive 0% till + 5%
  more than  400 up to 1000 m inclusive 0 m till + 20 m
  more than 1000 m 0% až + 2 %

According to the standard nowadays the min. breaking force is shown, it is expressed in kN and must be calculated according to the following formula:

Fmin = (K1d2Rr) / 1000
kde
d      diameter in mm
R    class of rope strength in N/mm2
K    empiric coefficient for the minimum breaking force for the shown rope class. It is shown for each design, for both the fibre and the steel core.

Rated linear density expressed in kg/100m, is calculated as follows

M=W1d2
where  W1 is linear density coefficient – of informative character only

On this page in the Catalogue part under individual names of rope designs you will be displayed specific types and designs from our product rang, by loading the requested diameter from the manufactured range and by choosing the rope strength class you will obtain interactively the data concerning the minimum breaking force and the linear density of the rope you have chosen.
